Surgery

At Smithers Animal Hospital, we offer many surgical services - from routine spay/neuters to soft tissue repairs to orthopedic repairs. We know it is very common to be concerned about your pet undergoing anesthetic events. Every patient is given a thorough examination and additional diagnostics are recommended as needed prior to any sedation.

Routine Procedures

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we perform spays, neuters and dental cleaning and polishing. These procedures are performed during the morning and your pet is monitored throughout the day as they recover in our recovery suite.

Soft Tissue Procedures

These procedures are performed after your pet has been examined and a surgical plan is devised. Common soft tissue surgeries include but are not limited to: wound repair, mass removal, removal of bladder stones, cesarean, abdominal exploratory laparotomy and splenectomy. These procedures are performed on an as needed basis and may require additional hospitalization and care.

Orthopedic Procedures

These procedures are performed after your pet has been examined and a surgical plan is devised. Common orthopedic repairs include but are not limited to: canine cruciate ligament (CCL) repair, fracture repairs and femoral head ostectomy (FHO). These procedures are performed on an as needed basis and may require additional hospitalization and care.
